Overview of Assessment
Assessment in this course is designed to develop your conceptualisation, analysis and application skills. We focus on developing a solid working foundation of the theories, methods, tools and techniques of strategic management. The assessment is designed to assess how well you have mastered these elements.
Much of the background material about the organisation, market and industry will be provided for you in the Organisation Data Pack. This is a starting point for your analysis – you are expected to collect more data and conduct further analysis. A good place to start is the RMIT Library Industry and Company Information Key Resources
The course learning outcomes are:
Identify and describe the key components of the strategic management process and how it can be applied in organisations.
Assess and judge strategic inputs, including the external and internal environment, strategic mission and strategic intent.
Create a strategy including synthesising appropriate elements of business-level strategy, competitive dynamics, corporate-level strategy, cooperative strategies and international strategies.
Apply selected theory and strategy frameworks to analyse practical strategy related issues in organisational contexts.
Examine the relationship between strategic inputs, strategic actions (formulation, implementation and evaluation) and strategic outcomes to design a strategic plan.

You should focus on defining a strategy that can be implemented at the corporate level within Australia.
