2.1 Aim
The assessment aims to conduct a study of an organisation’s health and safety management system focusing on following
· how performance objectives/targets are used,
· the key elements that underpin an effective management system
· how information is identified, managed, recorded and distributed,
· conduct a critical evaluation of the system, including its integration with other organisational systems.
2.2 Scope
The scope of this assignment is to identify the following in the organisation:
· Outlined the type of performance objectives, e.g. SMART or other Clearly explained the role of performance objectives and targets
· Provided examples to demonstrate how the organisation uses objectives and targets.
· Described how these are communicated to relevant role holders and departments within the organisation.
· Critically evaluate the effectiveness of the health and safety system against organisational needs.
· how its integration with other organisational systems meets these needs.

· Interview of Management and site team.
· Observation of work activities, behaviour of people and including supervision.
· Verification documents and records.
· Interview and sampling of workmen
· Workplace assessment
· Work culture by asking questions and checking employees awareness.
· Surveys on employee motivation.
· Analysis of accident and incident reports and site monitoring data.
· Analysis of leading and lagging indicators.
· Use of case studies that are readily available.
