Assignment Task
Assessment Description.
The purpose of this individual property portfolio analysis is to further students understanding of the role of operations and control in accommodations management by applying the hotel operation management concept to a real business case. It will also allow students to identify a range of factors that influence hotel and accommodation management operations.
Assessment Instructions
Individually, visit Accor and InterContinental Hotels Group websites and select two accommodation providers from the same service standard. For example, you may wish to choose Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour and InterContinental Sydney. Compare the chosen accommodation providers and critically examine their differences in the following areas:
• General comparison (number of rooms, rating, location, etc.);
• room rates;
• provided facilities and services;
• housekeeping functions;
• food and beverage outlets; and
• other supplementary services on offer.
By examining these areas, you must create a visual comparison in the form of an infographic followed by a 250-word statement that succinctly outlines the extent to which both of the chosen accommodation providers differ. In creating your visual comparison, you may wish to include tables, graphs, charts, or other visual aids that validate your research. In addition, you will need to use at least 6 sources of information referenced in accordance with the Kaplan Harvard Referencing Guide. These may include corporate websites, government publications, industry reports, census data, journal articles, and newspaper articles published within the last five year.
