Computer Aided Design (CAD) is the use of computer technology in the creative industries to explore design ideas, visualize concepts through photorealistic and other visual rendering approaches, and model how a design will look and perform in the real world prior to production. This unit is designed to provide the opportunity to expand awareness and knowledge of CAD software applications used in the creative industries, as well as the practical skills to integrate the technology to produce creative work. The aim of this unit is to understand the current use and future uses of CAD technology in the creative industry, as well as construct CAD drawings, objects, 3D environments, and visualizations.

Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of CAD in different art & design practices (include limitations: how it might impact the design process). d. Critically compare the use of CAD to traditional methods (in relation to efficiency and accuracy) and evaluate recent developments in CAD practices and techniques in the creative industry.
